Who Am I? What Am I Writing About? Why Bother?

- Dear Fellow Globebloggers & Other Readers, Here's the scoop! Sal, my good friend of 20-odd (often quite odd) years started a blog, so I felt compelled to follow suit, if only to compete to see which of us gets more hits/comments. Yes, I know it's not a particularly good reason, but damned if I'm going to yield cyberspace to my old High School English Class nemesis without putting up at least a token (if not Tolkien) effort. I'm a husband and father of two who did my share of globetrotting (50 countries /7 continents) before settling down into a life of domestic bliss. I kept copious notes of my trips in travel diaries, which I tried to write in an accessible, narrative style. Some of these notebooks, travel-worn to begin with, are now well over a decade old, and they are falling apart. So I thought I'd use this forum for typing out my journals before they further deteriorate or get misplaced. I never originally intended to blog this info to the masses, but now that I've started, I find that sharing my stories as I type adds an element of excitement to a rather mundane process. Way to go, Chris! Your adventures on all seven continents are a recipe for pure blog-gold. I wish you all the best, and will check your site frequently for updates. Check mine as well; I'll have another article up sometime this week.

Looking forward to reading about your travel adventures, though you have some good kindergarten stories as well - like when you got peed on. Maybe some Aborigine pees on you in your adventures. I'll have to read on.

Hey Chris! I had a "little bit" of time and thought I would finally check out your blog. An impresive bit of writing.....it is EXCELLENT reading! It seems you were able to dedicate more time to keeping a journal when traveling alone! (Perhaps travel mates plying you with beer and other libations somewhat limited your literary output on our trip? Will your 1990 European log be coming online soon?)
Clearly I underestimated the magnitude of your collected Alaskan stories and ultimately chose to print out a hard copy so I can read it over lunch(es) at work this week.

It's been a few months since I stopped by, but I'm back from Australia and wanted to invite you to visit my blog the next few weeks to see my own day-by-day travel diary. I'm only writing the Foreword as I type this, so it might be a day or two before I start Day 1.
